Students & Young Researchers,

The Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is holding a competition for young research scientists around the world, which includes an exciting digital forensics challenge.

The challenge background and materials, including a forensic image of a Smart Home System, are online at www.openresearchchallenge.fau.de.

This FAU open research challenge is designed for participants with different levels of skill and experience. As such, introductory elements are intended to be fun for students with less experience, and more difficult elements are included to encourage novel solutions.

The winning team of each of the three challenges will travel to visit FAU for a one-week autumn school in October 2015. They will have the chance to visit the research groups and laboratories, discuss their solutions, explore possibilities for future collaboration or careers, and present their work at a high profile public event, the Long Night of Science. The winners will also experience the cultural and nature highlights of northern Bavaria including the picturesque medieval city of Nuremberg.

Good luck!
