All,
The DFRWS 2010 Forensic Challenge has been released on the DFRWS website (www.dfrws.org). Since 2005, the Digital Forensic Research Workshop has created an annual challenge in an effort to extend the boundaries of digital forensic analysis techniques and supporting tools. Certain aspects of each DFRWS Forensic Challenge are designed to be accessible to any digital forensic practitioner, while other aspects are intended to test the wits of experienced digital forensic specialists and tool developers.
This year, for the 10th annual conference, the challenge involves the development of tools and techniques for analyzing physical memory of mobile devices. The creation of the DFRWS 2010 Forensic Challenge required advanced acquisition techniques to extract the full contents of NAND and NOR memory chips in a Sony Ericsson device. This operation was performed by the Netherlands Forensic Institute (www.holmes.nl). The Digital Forensic Research Workshop 2010 challenge has been posted at: http://www.dfrws.org/2010/challenge/
The deadline for submissions to this Forensic Challenge is July 25, 2010. Results and winning submissions will be presented at the DFRWS2010 conference in Portland, Oregon (August 2-4, 2010).
EARLY REGISTRATION
Early registration and the law enforcement special rate is now open and will end on June 1. You can register for the DFRWS at the following URL: http://www.dfrws.org/2010/register.shtml
SPONSORSHIP
There are still some sponsorship opportunities available for the DFRWS 2010 conference. Sponsors of the conference will gain visibility for their organizations, demonstrate their support of digital forensic research and development, and contribute to the success of the conference. All sponsors will have their logo listed on the DFRWS 2010 website with a link to their website and will be listed in the printed proceedings. They will also get recognition at specific events that they sponsor. You can get details about sponsorship opportunities at: http://www.dfrws.org/2010/sponsorship.shtml
We look forward to you participation in the 10th annual DFRWS conference.
